| Q |
Why do the French subscribe to a
Top-Up' Policy for Health Insurance? |
| A |
Quite simply the French
sécurité sociale
covers only a percentage of the cost a patient incurs, as a rule of thumb
this percentage is about 70% but could be a lesser amount for some treatments/medicines.
The 'Top-Up' insurance health policies (Complémetaire) are designed to
cover all or
part of the remaining amount left to the patient's charge.
|
| Q |
As I'm now
a British pensioner living in France do I still need a 'Top-Up' Health
insurance |
| A |
Your social
security reimbursements will not alter because you are a pensioner and
therefore although not compulsory you will still require a 'Top-up'
|
| Q |
I insure
my French car with your agency, am I insured to drive my neighbour's car? |
| A |
Your policy
allows others to drive your vehicle but will not cover you to drive other
people's cars, it is likely that their insurance will cover you to drive
their car but this you should verify
|
| Q |
Can I protect
my No-claims bonus? |
| A |
Yes, this
is achieved once you have held a maximum no-claims bonus for three years
|
| Q |
Do I need
to inform you that I intend to travel to the UK with my car? |
| A |
No, automatically
you are issued with a 'Green card' enabling you to travel to other European
countries. Also the 'Europ Assistance' plan provided with your policy
will cover you whilst abroad.
|
| Q |
I am a little
confused over the exact car model I have ordered, how can I be certain
that the policy you are going to arrange for me corresponds to the correct
model? |
| A |
As part
of our customer service programme we will liaise with your garage to obtain
all the information we need and establish with them any special requirements,
the car may need for example the anti theft device/window etching.
Once your French car insurance policy is established, for your peace of
mind we shall fax your garage a cover note.
|
| Q |
Before we
decide where to purchase a property we intend to rent a property do we
really need insurance? |
| A |
If your landlord
is aware of the legislation he or she will be most reluctant to allow
you access to the property unless you are able to provide proof that you
are insured. It is also prudent to arrange to have your contents insured.
|
| Q |
Is it true
that I must have my chimney swept once a year even though we rarely use
it? |
| A |
You are
required to maintain your chimney In case of a fire originating
from your chimney the loss adjustor will most certainly wish to ascertain
if the cause was due to a lack of maintenance.

fpr my property at the Notarie's office what document should I present
